FA-CD-048. Re-issue of the tape done by Freak Animal not so long ago. Simply landmark in Shifts discography. Heaviness, slowness, heavily processed vocals, deep throbbing synths... Somewhere between power electronics, death industrial, heavy drone, not fitting exactly to the easy sub-genres, but suitable for anyone appreciating dark and heavy electronics. The Open Your Skull gig in Croydon turned out a pleasent evening with some familiar faces as well as a couple of new ones. A pleasure seeing Cheapmachines again for the first time in 3 years.
All my focus is on the gig with FLESHPRESS now. Last chance to secure tickets for that event here before the paypal button is removed on Saturday morning.

Birmingham 5/6 is confirmed. I'll be sharing the bill With MUTANT APE and another local act whose name I can't remember right now. The venue will be The Victoria, it's a fiver to get in and doors open at 8.30.
UK dates this year are:

I'm getting close to having done 30 gigs over the last two years, which if you're juggling a full time job, label, distro, organising gigs and some form of private/social life, is quite a lot. I'm planning a few dates in Europe for the fall and feel that it's time to step back from playing live for a while after that. Nothing is set in stone but I've felt this for while and reckon I'd benefit from some time away. I'm still open to the odd gig should something out of the ordinary appear but that's another matter which will be dealt with there and then.
Before this live hiatus happens it would be great to see as many as possible of all the great people I've gotten to know over the last couple of years turn up and lend further gravitas to the celebrations.

So after a bit more toing and froing we decided to cancel Glasgow. This being the second time of losing a venue and with other options not being realistic I decided to make a full on night of it in Newcastle instead.
The people who'll make their way to the Chillingham Arms Friday 30th will be treated to a brand new set and the chance to buy the new LP. Also, SOFT OPTION KILLING has just been added to the bill.

Recordings for the SHIFT LP on At War With False Noise at the Soundroom in Newcastle were completed yesterday. It came out heavier and blacker than anticipated. Lee (Culver/Marzuraan/Skullflower) has done a sterling job supplying his bass and on a whole it's run smoother than a baby's arse. All done and dusted in a 9 hour session spread over two days.

Berlin date with CEMENT and BROKEN DIODE is confirmed. I'm going more primitive for this one. With a sonically less tarted up set I'm going full on brute force this time.
Also the Malmo date with PULSE EMITTER + BIRDS OF DELAY + FAMILY BATTLE SNAKE is confirmed. Organised at/by Delete/Rundgang records.

SHIFT + KTL + BLOOD STEREO - 29/5/07, The Luminaire, London
SHIFT had a quiet and humble beginning in Sweden in 1997. Now based in the south coast area of England SHIFT has had several releases on labels such as Hospital Productions and Freak Animal with a first full length CD on his own label UNREST PRODUCTIONS Earlier this year. Aptly named “Unable to Abide the Silence of the World” it offers a slow, drone infested and crushingly bass heavy take on the Power Electronics genre.
Carefully avoiding the use of playback and laptops SHIFT operates all equipment (analogue synths, effects pedals, contact mics, sheet metal, samplers etc) and vocals resulting in an intense and disciplined live set executed in real time. SHIFT more or less brings the studio into a live setting and manages to manually recreate recorded material time after time in ever changing versions within an ever evolving set. Sometimes reinforced by a bass player he brings the live sets further into a murky subsonic gloom.
For this date additional bass player Dan Bengtsson (of Deranged and Crowpath fame) has been invited to lend his support.
Expect heaviness!

Big thanks to Wim for putting this on and for having me on the bill. Visiting and playing Gent was a true pleasure all the way. Best of luck also to Mike, Benny and Daniel with the rest of the tour. I hope all went well yesterday in Tilburg despite the loss of some equipment. I hope to see you all again soon.

I have two full length albums recorded and ready for release. The first one will be Sleep Paralysis which should be out in early September. Unable To Abide the Silence of the World is mastered with some finishing touches needed for the sleeve. It will be released in November just in time for the UK tour with MUTANT APE.
The C-12 split with ROMANCE is in production right now and should be out within the next copule of weeks.
SHIFT have been added to the line-up at the Volks Tavern in Brighton 8/8/06 at very short notice. It will be a short non-vocal set lasting no more than 10 minutes. The line-up features TAKE A WORM FOR A WALK WEEK, MOTORBIKES, NAOMI and GREEN MIST. Entry is £4.00
